Privacy Policy for Discover Kyoto

This Privacy Policy describes how GuideeGO di Fabio Sanna (“GuideeGO”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) processes personal data in connection with the Discover Kyoto mobile application (“App”).

2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Discover Kyoto mobile application. The App does not require users to create an account or sign in.
3. Data We Process
Based on the current implementation of the App, the following categories of data may be processed:
- Usage analytics data, such as events relating to feature usage, screens viewed, and aggregate interaction patterns.
- Diagnostic and performance data, such as crash reports, technical error information, and app performance metrics.
- Device and app information, such as operating system, app version, language, and technical identifiers used by the integrated services.
- Location data used locally on the device to provide location-based functionality, such as showing nearby stops, centering the map, and guiding the user along a route.
- Purchase-related status information required to manage in-app purchases and restore entitlements.
The App does not intentionally collect directly identifying profile data such as the user’s name, postal address, or phone number through an in-app account system.
4. How Location Data Is Used
The App can access device location to provide core features, including nearby points of interest, map centering, and route guidance.
According to the current App configuration, location data is used locally on the device for these features and is not intentionally stored on our own servers or transmitted to us as part of a user account profile.
5. Analytics, Diagnostics, and Performance Monitoring
The App integrates Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring.
These services may process technical and usage data to help us:
- understand how the App is used,
- detect and diagnose crashes and technical issues,
- monitor performance and reliability,
- improve the overall user experience.
Where required by applicable law, analytics collection may depend on user consent or in-app settings. Where available, users may review or change analytics preferences within the App settings. Based on the current implementation guidelines for the App, analytics events should not include personally identifiable information, free-text personal content, or precise coordinates.
The App does not display third-party advertising.
6. In-App Purchases
The App offers in-app purchases. Purchase transactions are processed by the relevant app store platform, such as Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by us.
We may process limited purchase-status information needed to unlock content, restore purchases, and manage entitlements within the App. We do not receive or store full payment card details.
7. Emails and User Contact
If the App offers a support contact action, it opens the user’s email client so the user can contact us voluntarily. We do not operate an in-app messaging account system for user accounts.
If you choose to send us an email, we will process the information you include in that communication in order to respond to your request.
8. Legal Bases Under GDPR
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases, depending on the processing:
- performance of a contract or steps taken at the user’s request, for functionality necessary to provide the App;
- our legitimate interests, for security, diagnostics, fraud prevention, and service improvement, where those interests are not overridden by users’ rights;
- user consent, where required by applicable law, including where analytics or similar telemetry is optional.
9. Third-Party Services
The App may rely on third-party service providers acting as independent controllers or processors, including:

10. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the data category and the third-party service involved.
11. International Transfers
Some third-party providers used by the App may process data outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards under applicable law.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights such as:
- access to your personal data,
- rectification of inaccurate data,
- deletion of personal data,
- restriction of processing,
- objection to processing,
- data portability,
- withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent,

The App is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not intentionally collect personal data from children under 13 as a targeted audience category.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App or through the relevant store listing.
